Privacy Policy

OnTheWay ("the App") is operated by Shore Forge LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information we collect

Location

The App requests access to your device location while in use. We use your location to:

• Auto-populate your trip origin
• Resume navigation from your current position

Your location is used only on-device and is never transmitted to our servers or stored.

Anonymous trip analytics

With your permission (opt-in during onboarding), the App sends anonymous trip data to our backend, including:

• General route corridor (origin region and destination region — not precise addresses)
• Number of stops planned
• Stop types selected (gas, food, hotel, stretch)

This data contains no personally identifiable information. It is used solely to improve stop suggestions. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Preferences → Privacy.

Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device's privacy settings.

Destination history

Your last 10 destination entries are stored locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.

2. Information we do not collect

• Your name, email address, or any account information — the App requires no account
• Precise location history
• Payment information
• Contacts or photos
• Any data from minors — the App is not directed at children under 13

3. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

• Google Maps Platform — to fetch route and points-of-interest data. Requests include only the route polyline and target coordinates, not your identity.
• Google AdMob — for advertising as described above.
• Google Cloud Run — our backend infrastructure processes stop requests. Requests contain no personally identifiable information.

4. Data retention

Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted. Local device data (destination history, preferences) remains on your device until you delete the App.

5. Your choices

• Location: You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → OnTheWay → Location. The App's core navigation features require location access to function.
• Analytics opt-out: Go to Preferences → Privacy → opt out of anonymous data collection.
• Ad personalization: Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, or your device's ad ID settings.
• Delete your data: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. To request deletion of any server-side analytics data, contact us at the address below.

6. California residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. Contact us at the address below to exercise these rights.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
