Privacy

A plain-language overview.

This page summarizes the currently published OnTheWay privacy policy. The official policy remains the controlling source.

Official policy: shoreforge.io/privacy · Effective August 5, 2026.

Location

OnTheWay uses location while the app is in use to help set trip origins and resume navigation. Route and target coordinates are sent to Google Maps Platform and the app backend to calculate routes and find stops. The published policy says this request data is not linked to your identity and precise location history is not retained.

Anonymous trip analytics

The app can collect anonymous usage information such as broad route region, approximate stop-search location, selected stop types and which options were chosen. The policy says this analytics can be disabled in the app’s Privacy settings.

Advertising

OnTheWay uses Google AdMob. Personalized advertising and use of advertising identifiers depend on platform privacy settings and, on iOS, App Tracking Transparency permission.

What the policy says is not collected

  • No name, email address or account information is required.
  • No stored history of precise locations or trips.
  • No payment information.
  • No contacts or photos.

Local device data

Recent destinations and preferences can be stored locally on the device. Removing the app deletes that local data.
